In OS X you have a menubar at the top of the screen. Underneath it there
is the desktop. Usually at the bottom of the screen is the doc. The
menubar and doc are always on the screen, but the window content and menu
items will change depending on what application you are using.

The doc is where you normally put programs that you use frequently. Vo-d
will put focus on the doc and you can start typing the name of the app you
are looking for. So, just start typing mail.

If something isn’t on the doc, you can open the application folder with
command-shift-a. Then just start typing the name of the app you are
looking for.

OS X has a lot of keystrokes, but keyboard access has to be turned on for
them to work.
