Hello Robin, We as blind and low vision users are very fortunate to have the alternatives we do and the accesssibility within the Mack OS. It's not about a right or wrong way to do something. It's about something we as a visually impaired community have struggled with for years, choice. All of us on this list have varying levels of expertise using the Mac. In many cases, the basic mac keystrokes are synonymous with what one can use with voiceover. That in itself is a sign of true accessibility. I frankly have learned something from this thread not knowing all of the various ways one can get to a specific program. I too like to use my doc or spotlight. However I was not aware of the keystrokes to get through finder to accomplish the same thing. When I first got my Mac, I felt the combination of keystrokes to use voice over felt cumbersome. I learned the trackpad gestures. At the time, that was easy enough for me to at least figure out my way around the OS. I subsequently got more familiar with the keystrokes. If our new Mac user has issues with dexterity and the voiceover keystrokes, triple tap on the bottom of the trackpad to get to the dock. Use the arrow keys to navigate the dock. Henceforth another way to get what you want. We have had many suggestions within this thread. I hope The original poster finds them helpful.

I presumed he/she didn't know very much about VO (VoiceOver) so I decided to provide him/her the quickest way to get there as I have been informed by Ol'Sighty using Basic Mac OSX KeyBoard Commands rather than using Basic VO KeyBoard Commands. I agree there are quite a few ways to perform the same function on a Mac. I thought "we" as "the Blind & LowVision Community" wanted to utilize Basic Mac OSX KeyBoard Commands rather than use alternative KeyBoard Commands, but I presume from the responses on "This List", I'm wrong about that as well. t 05:56 AM 8/24/2014, you wrote: > Yet another is to go to Finder, hit cmd-shift-a to open the Applications > folder, and navigate to and open Mail from there.
