I agree, Alex. It's nice to have so many different ways to do things. I remember right after I got my first Mac, someone on another list chastised me for putting the Mail alias on my desktop. I asked why I shouldn't do that, and the only reason he could give me was that Mac users just don't do things that way. I was irritated, and figured that if he couldn't give me a better reason than that, I was just going to do what I wanted. Looking back now, his statement seems all the more ridiculous, precisely because there are so many different ways to do most things, and most Mac users are very comfortable with the notion that one should just use whatever option they prefer.
