Hi list,

Just spent a fun night playing around with dj3

So, as i spoke about the intuitivity of the keyboard layout, i will
add that one can after a while, turn voice over off and feels his way
through the commands.

The layout is as follows:

left side of keyboard has all the commands for the first turntable
such as:

start stop
reverse
skip
wind rewind
sound effects
pitch bend
hold pitch
fade up mid and down
gain up and down
equalizer low mid and tweet up and down
cue start and end
loop start
synch tempo to opposite table
bmp check
The same commands are available on the opposite side of the keyboard
for the second turntable.

There is an automix feature which allows for one click mix of your
playlists

All songs come from itunes and can be arranged in order in the playlist.

An extra headphone can be connected via usb for song preview before
mixing
A mic can be integrated for voicing over while recording a live session

After soldering the key commands in memory, i proceeded to do live
testing.

What i can say is that the application is extremely responsive,
provided one works on a dual core at least 1.8 ghz, with 1gb of ram.
The scratch features are quite good, though sometimes we can hear that
its a digital turntable. If you hold the shift key and scratch, the
clip technique is available and makes the scratch feel professional.
depending on the combo of trackpad and shift, and some other effects
on the numbers keys, i was able to do some quite impressive,
considering the size of the program.

the left and right arrows allow you to fade nicely from track to track
with transitional effects you can choose from a variety of styles,
either set by you or randomly generated.

Those include echo snap fade out, classic fade out, a rewind fade (i
don't like this, as it makes it sound like a village dj going nuts on
the track) and a few others.

One thing i haven't delved into is the hotspot on turntables and mixer
for trackpad sensitive tune scratching.

Also, i haven't played with the set loop feature, but i believe it is
the same as on the dual pioneer cd player set, where you have a key
for start loop and other for end loop, and you can play from cue or
make it loop automatically.

One advantage of this set is that since it takes from digital tunes, a
lot of processes are automated, such as synch to opposite channel, and
you can scrub through the previous or next beat for mixing
corrections, and gains and equalizers are automatically adjusted track
by track so all songs sound at the same level.

This program is pretty funky, and a fun toy to have. Some can probably
rock a party with shades and a wooden oak varnish cane with a dog's
head as holder. Who said vi people can't be hip?

Guys i recommend you check the 15 day trial, with certain limitations
such as no recording and 30 minute limits for each sessions. It's a 9
meg download as well, so good for everyone :)

Best

Yuma
