This isn't a replacement for iTunes, at least not completely. I don't know what 
might happen if you send audio to an iOS device, but I'm not sure that it will 
be added to your music library. Worth trying, of course, but I wouldn't count 
on replacing iTunes with Air Drop. As to the supported Macs, the key is 
bluetooth 4.0, also called bluetooth low energy, or just BLE. If you device has 
that, and is from 2011 or later (I believe that's the year a special type of 
wifi chip started being used that Air Drop also uses) it should work.
