Have not had time to look at this but suspect one needs to set the
options in one's Amazon's account.

Yes the files are already associated with Amazon Mp3 Downloader but I cannot
find a way of Safari passing control of the file directly to Amazon Mp3
Downloader. I have Safari Preferences set to open files when downloaded and I
have System Preferences set to allow all apps. Despite this I have to go to the
Download Folder and open the file there after download separately and only
then the association with Amazon Mp3 Downloader kicks in. I suspect this just
part of the Mac security policies. In general it is probably not good to allow
websites to execute code on our Macs. .
If anybody knows of a solution I would be interested but it is not a
showstopper as the download of the AMZ file is pretty instantaneous and I have
folder alerts set up in the download folder so I am taken straight to the
downloaded file anyway when I hit the yes button on the folder alert. .

Ah, but David, do I recall correctly that inside the file info scrole area, you
can designate this file to open automatically when a file of this type is seen?

It has worked every time for me but there is an extra step o the Mac compared
to the Windows version.
On the mac side when you download the AMZ file from the Amazon website the
Amazon Mp3 Downloader does not open this file automatically but if I go to the
Downloads folder I will find the small AMZ file downloaded from the Amazon
site. If I press command O on that to open it then the Amazon Mp3 Downloader
will then open and download the music you have purchased onto your Mac. It is
stored by default in a folder on your Music Directory called Amazon Mp3.
The downloader app will also give you the option to import into iTunes.
unlike on Windows the app is completely accessible on the Mac.

I've never had any luck downloading anything with the mp3 downloader, can I get
some pointers with that? Ok, I did about 2 years or so ago, but can't remember
now how I did it, so I rarely purchase mp3's from them for that very reason,
and their tech support is anything but helpful.

I just went to look and it still available.
They do not want you to use it and try to direct you to the Amazon Music app as
they want to bombard you with adverts but just continue down the page and they
will reluctantly point you to the page to download the Amazon Mp3 Downloader.
Specifically I found the download page on the UK site to download it at
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/dmusic/help/amd-bm.html?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

Hello all,
I have attempted to find the accessible version of the amazon mp3 downloader
through a google search. The search seems to be showing that it does not exist
anymore. Have I overlooked something?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need to use not the inaccessible Amazon app but instead install the
alternative Amazon Music Downloader.
Generally in checking out you need to reject the option to use the Amazon app
and select the option which says something like no thanks use the Amazon Music
Downloader.

Hello all,
I have bought an album from Amazon music. I downloaded the amazon app for the
mac, but cannot seem to download the album to my computer, which is a mac with
using Yosemite. Can anyone provide assistance? If I cannot use the Amazon app
on the computer, would it be better to download it to the iphone or ipad using
the Amazon player and then it to my computer?
Thanks.
