Hi Donna, Sound Forge has a few more effects, which you're unlikely to need for spoken word production and in may cases can be compensated for by installing system-wide audio units. Amadeus Pro is a lot cheaper as well. You may possibly be interested in another audiobook I produced, Record Tech Demos Like a Pro, which discusses in broad terms issues like microphones, techniques for producing a good recording and the like.
