They way I do it is as follows: download the latest flash player for mac by going to, www.get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Follow the steps there to download the latest flash player .dmg file. Once downloaded, close all programs and then open the .dmg and run the installer app. That’s it. The systems preferences adobe update installer is inaccessible and is only good for notifying that a new flash player is available. If you have system prefs set to auto update flash, then when that update flash dialog pops up, simply cancel out of it and follow the manual steps I outlined above.
