Hi,

I would not go that direction at all. When/if you get a new Mac, it is very
easy to move everything from one to the other during the setup process. When
you turn on a brand new Mac, it lets you choose your language, your keyboard
preference, some networking stuff, then asks if you'd like to migrate data from
another computer. You have choices of from another Mac, a Windows PC or a Time
Machine backup. In your case, you'd choose another Mac then follow the
prompts. It moves over everything including Wifi passwords so it is much more
reliable than what you're thinking of doing. In fact, I believe that moving
the entire Home folder would not actually work to do what you want.

I don't see why that wouldn't work, though if you have any shortcuts or aliases
set up, they may not carry over. Remember, though, that (A) you'll have to wait
for everything to upload, and I know of no way to check the status like you can
do in Dropbox; and (B) you need enough iCloud storage space to begin with. If
you're trying to move a 50GB folder in there, and you only have the 20GB iCloud
plan, it won't all fit. I have no idea what might happen, or how iCloud/OS X
determines what would get uploaded and what wouldn't. If possible, I'd trust a
move like this to a local, external hard drive rather than the cloud. It'd be
far faster and more efficient, plus you'd know you got everything.
