I tried looking in Terminal and also checked to see if Startup Disk is Apple Scriptable. There are some System Pref panes that are, but, just our luck, Startup Disk isn't one of them. I'll try some other resources, but it's not looking promising. Logging in as root does automatically leave all System Pref panes unlocked, but being logged in as root all the time has its own huge security issues. Later...
