As Kawal said, the trick here is to have some free terrestrial TV, but in practice I never watch it because if I tried hard enough I could just get it streamed to me, and for some reason I always get my news through the straw that is online news articles and videos on the web, played on my bright desktop satellite speakers. It works well, except for live TV. If more live TV would make it to the web, I could honestly regard TV as dead; as it stands, it’s that tiny little gap, which is still not worth it for me but which I occasionally feel I’m missing out on.
More important perhaps, my circumstances presently mean that I can’t afford to set up anything impressive for audio, and the cheap ’n’ cheerful crap that my brother uses won’t do as a substitute, so I’m doing most of my best listening on headphones. All of which means I just can’t justify a television. Perhaps if I had more space, but honestly, I want to live the digital life without a TV because the media is there and I simply have no need for one. If I had more space, I’d simply put my component system back in pride of place, and start “casting” audio to that from live videos, with AirPlay support from plug-ins on the web, just like I used to. It’s a trial, but I can endure. :) -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
