Once you learn where things are on the screen you can get there rather quickly. I don't do any flicking or searching around on my IPhone. I know where everything is and can usually hit it on the first try or I'm one space away from it. Using it in a store to compare how fast it can be used is not such a good idea because of the loud place you're in and probably how much time you have to play with it.
