You are Jes. You need to really learn the jestures. I had the same problem at first. it's gonna be a beast to type any way you look at it, but, don't just! flick. that is part of your problem right there. Remember: you don't have! to flick. mix flicking with sliding your finger around the screen.
Let me give you an example of how you could have sped up the word hello. You after a while learn where things on the screen are. You know thus, that the shift key's near the bottom left, not the total bottom left, but near the bottom left. You put your finter down there and here a bwoop? bwoop? so you move it slightly up. you hear x. ok, well, I know that the shift key is two keys to the left of that, so one finger flick left: Z. One finger flick left: Shift. Double tap. Then I move my finger to the right and a bit up. I hear d. I slide my finger to the right a bit. I hear j. Oops? leetle? too far. flick left one time, one finger. h. perfect! double tap. now go up and to the left a bit. e. aa, perfect, we landed right onnit. double tap. Now move down and to the right. j. oops, ok, slide my fintger a bit to the right without picking it up off the screen. k, l. there ya go. double tap. then double tap again for a second l. move on the keyboard near the top and you hear, y. well we got a ways to go so let's slide to make it quicker. u, i, wo wo slow down, we're nearly there. flick once finger right once? o. perfect. double tap. There you go. Done! You just typed hello. I'm gonna say compared to a qwerty it can take getting used to. I've had my IPod Touch sense last Saturday, which escentially is an IPhone minus the phone and camera, and I only now! am just barely starting to get the hang of typing. It's gonna take time. One Apple Store visit is not! gonna do the trick, putting it bluntly. Don't give up, man, it's gonna take time, but it will come, believe me. I'm kind of at the point now where it's called I can type fine, but it's like arg! I hate this! This is such a pain in the behaunkis.
