Sharon, There are two ways that one can have Windows on the Macintosh platform and it is possible you have both. If you have VMWare Fusion and a Windows virtual machine in that then you can at least one way of accessing Windows.
The other major way of accessing windows is using Bootcamp in order to use bootcamp you have to reboot your computer and tell it to use the bootcamp area to start the computer back up. To see if you have bootcamp implantation of Windows, open your System Preferences and goto the StartUp disk pane. If Bootcamp is listed there in addition to MacOS (and probably Target Disk Mode) then you have bootcamp. In order to get bootcamp implementation of Windows to work fully with your Macintosh you need to load the Macintosh based drivers that Apple confusingly calls bootcamp in your Bootcamp windows. On the other hand, if you are using VMWare to access Windows then there is no need for the bootcamp software to be loaded on the Windows side.
