Do you see the installer disk in Startup preferences?

Hi I tried to use install disk creator to make a bootable installation disk.

The disc appeared to be created but when I try to use it on my desktop the
computer does not recognize it as an installation desk.

I also tried to use the terminal to create another bootable USB stick and I got
an error in the terminal saying did not have administrator privileges which I do

Any ideas

Subject: Re: making a bootable installer for high sierra

Hi,

This can be done in Terminal very easily by doing the following:

• create a blank USB stick or other removal media, at least 8 GB in size.
• make sure the volume is named "Untitled".
• make sure that the Install MacOS High Sierra app is in your Applications
folder.
• open Terminal and paste this command in.

sudo /Applications/Install\ MacOS\ High\
Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled
--applicationpath /Applications/Install\ MacOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeraction

• you'll need to enter your password and that's it.

Wait about 1/2 an hour or so and it will be done.

As Mike mentioned, each time that MacOS updates High Sierra, you'll need
another download of the installer if you wish to have the latest version as
your installer.

Later...

The recovery disk assistant provided by Apple does not work in Sierra, so I'm
assuming it doesn't work in high Sierra either. If you Carbon Copy Cloner, it
does offer the option to install a recovery on to your backup drive.

Mike. Thanks for the article. I have bookmarked the URL so I can refer to it
as I am ho[ping to do the upgrade this weekend. BTW, Is it no longer possible
to copy the recovery from the internal partition as it was in el caption? Just
wondered as I heard a demo of your upgrade from 10.10 to 10.11 on blindgeekzone
I think it was.

Thanks again.

Here are the instructions I used to make a bootable install, I used an 8 GB SD
card, but a flash drive would work just as well. The application that is used
is totally accessible with voiceover.
