Hi,

I don't remember now if it was the update to Sierra or High Sierra when this started for me. I sort of feel dumb for having to ask this but how do you tell exactly which view you're using?

Thanks,

Gabe

Hi Alex and others,

In addition to the responses here I received at least one off list from a very experienced mac user.  I’m glad I’m not alone.  this happened on my upgrade to high Sierra. For the past two years I was working on a conference for guide dog users.  If this bug had been happening I would not have been able to complete that important task.  this is a huge productivity hit.  I thought it was just me but as it is clearly effecting others I dearly hope Apple is working on a fix.

At this time I try really hard not to make errors in my emails!

When did this email thing start, and is it for a specific view?

I'm using a Mac to type this, in standard view, and I'm not seeing any of these problems. In fact, I'm on the beta cycle for 10.12, and I've never seen this problem once since my first upgrade last summer. As this is past beta stuff, I feel okay talking about it here. Hope the mods don't mind.

Yes, this is what I was referring to when I said you had to get to the line, and sometimes the word, you want to edit by interacting specifically on that line. It usually works if you use the up and down arrows to get to the line you want, then the left and right arrows to get to the word, then interact. Not always. This has got to be one of the most aggravating aspects of my MacBook right now, other than the frequent “busy” messages and the sudden freezing then returning of VoiceOver at random times. I also have been experiencing a bunch of rapid clicks, often accompanied by VO not working, while reading a page in a browser.

Hi,

The problem I have is when I want to edit something in an email I can't get the cursor to the spot I want to edit and it is editing in a different part of the email. Compounding this issue is that my cursor often jumps around and I find myself typing somewhere other than where I meant to be.

I have found that if you wait about ten seconds, the changes show without having to shut off VO. I have also found that is often extremely difficult to edit without interacting with the text exactly where you want to make the edits. Additionally, I have resorted much of the time to the text edit method, or dictation. Iwill sometimes make edits on my iPhone by going into the Drafts folder. All in all, a real pain.

Yes. This is a big bug. Apple is aware of the problem but haven’t fixed it yet.On Jan 12, 2018, at 8:56 PM, Eric Caron <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote:
Please note there is a grammatical error in the above statement but, with this bug, I cannot correct it. The only way aroung this is to type something in text edit and then copy and paste it into your email.

Hi listers,

When composing emails I have a strange problem when trying to edit a message.

When I go back into a message to change something I can’t hear the change.  It is like nothing happened.  Then when I turn off voice over and turn it on again, my changes can be heard.  This makes using mail very difficult on my mac.

Anyone else having this problem?  Any tips on what I can do to fix it?

Thanks.
