Hi, In Calendar Preferences, under the Advanced tab, make sure that the Enable Time Zone Support is checked. When this is checked, when you set a time for a specific event, there's also a Time Zone option you can modify. So, for example, you could set an event for 10 am EST on your calendar when you are in PST time. If you combine this action with setting the Time Zone of your computer, it should automatically make the changes for you. Setting the Time Zone of your computer can be done manually, or it can be set automatically according to your current location. So, in System Preferences, in the Date & Time pane, under the Time Zone tab, if the checkbox is checked to Set Time Automatically by Location, then your Mac will determine its location and set the Time Zone accordingly. The caveat here is that you need to make sure that Location Services is enable for your Mac. With both of these items enabled, what you're hoping for should be accomplished in that if you've set the event for 10 am EST while you were at home in a different Time Zone such as MST, when you travel to New York in EST for the event, all times should properly be managed.
I hope this makes some sort of sense. I'm not sure if it does to me, but it's the best my brain could word this morning :)/ Later... I travel a lot for work and frequently change time zones. Simultaneously, I have to schedule appointments with people who are in various time zones. If I am in one certain time zone and I want to set a time with someone who is located in a different time zone I can figure out the time difference with no problem provided that I am staying on the time zone I am on when I set the appointment. However, if I set the appointment then change time zones myself the time I have set doesn’t come out right. To my way of thinking, a smart calendar should be able to adjust these timings correctly but that doesn’t seem to happen. Does anyone have suggestions for solving this problem? Is there a setting on the native calendar app that will accomodate this or is there an additional app I can use? I hope I have explained this in a way that is understandable but if not, do ask for clarification.
