Hi, Do you have Time Machine turned on, but do not have a drive always available for the backups. If so, there could be snapshots of your drive stored while it waits for the ability to access the backup Time Machine drive. You may also wish to look under the Apple menu, About This Mac, interact with the ToolBar and press on Storage. See what it reveals there.
