Hi, This is a slightly different area than I usually dive into, so, I'm not confident in all aspects of these commands. With that in mind, I believe that you are correct in that you'll need to edit the boot.efi file in the given path to allow the use of System Prefs to properly bless thee EFI partition. Blessing the partition should subsequently allow booting to your Linex OS. Now, I always add to my help that "should" is my favourite word. Therefore, if it doesn't work, I've got an out. Beyond this basic understanding, I'd need to actually see what the boot.efi file has for defaults to know if there's anything that can safely be edited.
