Pete, I got mine from Amazon too. I had plugged mine into the wall outlet and while I do see it pop up, I wanted it to boost the strength of the signal on my router. I don’t like using it because it is “unsecured”.
I was hoping there was a way to secure it and tie it into my own network that others can’t get onto. The basic concept is that you connect the extender to your network just like any other device. Hopefully, yours can connect via the pushbutton method if your router supports it. Then, when you go to your devices to look for a network, your extender will show up in the list as a separate network, and the signal strength should be strong. Hope this helps.
