Actually, the following is in the import settings which could be
misconstrued. But the proof of the pudding will come when I play the
albums on my mp3 player.

Hi,
Sorry ET. In the past, you could not convert purchased content. Apple
must have changed this at some point and I missed the memo. Sorry for
leading you astray. This, of course, is much easier and I did think of
it, but was under the misconception that one still could not convert
purchased content to mp3. Silly me :(.

Hello E.T.,
You don’t need to go through all that burning a CD stuff.
In iTunes, open the preferences and click the Import settings button
and select MP3 from the menu. Click the OK button and another OK
button and you’ll be out of Preferences.
you can now select all the tracks on the album and go to the File
menu. Go down to Convert and you’ll find MP3 as an option.
After the conversion, you’ll have two of each track.
Go to the Finder and open your iTunes library.
Find the album and sort the folder according to Type. All your MP3
versions will be together. Select them all and copy them. Create a new
folder somewhere else such as in Documents and paste them there.
You’ll need to delete the unwanted versions from within iTunes or
iTunes will get very upset!
I did this very recently with purchased music.
Cheers,
Anne
