Hi Petrus,

If you press Command Shift and c you will get the computer section of finder,
Under that you will most likely see your drives or volumes.
If you don’t see them there look in disk utilities to see what is connected and
possibly requiring a name of the volume.

Subject: Re: Memory sticks

Hi Aleeha,
Sorry, but I tried that. I plugged in the memory stick and navigated to the
finder and couldn’t find the drive, but it still told me to eject it correctly.
But but when I pressed command E it said New selection defined, or something
like that. I’m guessing that was because I didn’t have the drive selected.
I do have a friend visiting on Sunday and he also uses a Mac so I’ll wait till
he is here.
Thanks again.

Hi,
When you plug a drive in of any kind, it should show up on your desktop. If you
navigate to the finder, the drive will be there. It is good computer management
practice to always safely eject a drive when you are finished with it. To do
so, find the drive in finder and press Command E.
Hope that helps.
Aleeha

Hi all,
I have a silly question again. I have a few old flash drives or memory sticks,
what ever you want to call them? How do I check what is on them or even if my
Mac will read the contents? I suspect there is some Mp3 files and audio books
on them, but it has been so long I can’t remember. I used to use them with my
old windows computer. I plugged one in and it said my Mac could not read it and
gave me an option to eject it. But the next one I tried nothing happened, I was
at least expecting a dialog box giving me some instructions. But when I pulled
it out it told me that I didn’t eject it correctly. But it didn’t tell me how
to do that.
I do have an old external hard drive as well which has lots of MP3 audio books
on it, but I didn’t want to plug that in until I had some idea of what I was
doing.
Hoping for any advice,
Petrus
