Hello Paul, Well, as an iPhone 8 owner, I can confirm that entering a device's pass code on iPhone 8 is a little different than doing so on the 5 S. More specifically, VoiceOver feedback behaves differently.
I suggest that when entering the device pass code, you do so very slowly, at first, until you get used to VoiceOver feedback on the device. This is really the only way to learn how it is done. As for entering the verification code? Well, you must get used to the idea that you may not always receive instant VoiceOver feedback when entering the code. You must accept the fact that as you enter the code, the insertion point is automatically moving to the next entry field so all you need do is to enter the next digit in the sequence. If you have done so, correctly, the device / action you are attempting to engage will appear. For best results, I suggest that you ask a trusted sighted person to watch you enter the verification code, once, in order to provide meaningful feedback as to how the system works. Of course, this is just my opinion, only. I have them both at IOS 12.4 and have migrated all data and Apps from the 5S to the 8. Note that all non standard Apps are in iCloud on the 8. My first problem is data entry on the 8 using the on screen keyboard. On the 5S I use VO touch typing so that I can slide my finger to the desired character and lift my finger to enter it On the 5S. This also worked for entering the iPhone pass code on the 5S. So on the 8 I also set up VO touch typing and also turned off 3D touch. On the 8 the touch typing seems to work most times but it does not work for entering the iPhone pass code or for entering Apple ID 2 factor verification codes. For entering the iPhone passcode on the 8 I seem to have to double tap the desired numbers which is difficult to do accurately using VO. I am not sure how I am supposed to enter Apple ID verification code on the 8. My second and more major problem is that due to the above I kept entering the Apple ID 2 factor verification code wrong and now get error messages to the effect that I have tried too many verification codes. How do I resolve that???? The iPhone 8 on screen keyboard seems much more error prone than the 5S on screen keyboard. Do you have any tips on how to best use the iPhone 8 on screen keyboard with VO? Many thanks. Paul Hopewell -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
