I disagree with your definition of efficiency, but oh well. ITunes
commandeers the files by broot force and then creates a 20 step process for
accomplishing anything with them. Then heaven help you if you hit the
wrong button, generating thousands of duplicates, corrupting your massive
library data file, and who knows what else. At least file format support
is pretty robust now, but I'll do anything to avoid ITunes.
@Dave, I'll send you a copy of musicbox when I get home this afternoon.
Best,
Erik

Hi,
What sort of issues are you having when doing this in iTunes? Using the
Info dialog in iTunes, you can easily do what you want individually or in
bulk. I've used it extensively for this exact process. There are likely
other tools out there, but I haven't bothered to look since iTunes is fully
accessible and does the job efficiently.
Later...

I need to change the Artis or album names for large numbers of music files.
I’m not finding it very friendly to use iTunes. I’d like to highlight a
list of MP3 files in the Finder, and then have an app that will allow me to
change the album name, or artist name for all the files simultaneously.
This was very easy in Windows, using the Windows Explorer, so I’m hoping
there’s an easy solution (and one that doesn’t cost a bundle) for the OSx Mac.
