I suppose you could write your documents in Markdown, then use Pandoc to
convert to Microsoft Word, PDF, HTML or whatever you want later on. In that
case, you only need a text editor for each of the operating systems.

For the Mac, the best option seems to be Textmate. For Windows, I’m not sure
what the most appropriate option would be, but Notepad++ worked well with both
NVDA and JAWS when I last tested it. I do have it installed on my Windows
system, but I tend to use Emacs with a braille display for editing text. For
iPad, I don’t have an answer, as I haven’t looked. My iPad is rather old and
lacks a physical keyboard, which rather limits the motivation to do any writing
on it.

Hi donna,

Sorry yeah Microsoft don’t do anything for nothing,

Is it not possible for you to work on the document in pages?

I thought pages converted word doc’s

Or if you are on a mac book then there is open or libra office which is free
but I’m not sure how accessible it is.

Do you have a copy of office for your mac book?

How irritating! AmI really the only person in the world who wants to work on a
document on a PC a Mac and an iPad, but doesn’t want to pay for office 365?
Can’t tell you how much I hate Microsoft right now. That said, I suppose Apple
could create a version of pages for windows, but since that has never happened,
it doesn’t seem likely to in the future. Oh well, thanks for responding.

Cheers,

Donna

There is not a stand alone version of MS Word for iOS.

The only way to use it is to sign-in with a paid Office365 account UserID and
password. Access to the iOS apps is part of the subscription package.

Hi all,

Anyone using MS Word on their iPhone or iPad? I just downloaded it, and it
keeps prompting me to sign in to edit documents. I can’t believe Microsoft will
give me access to Office 365 for free, so do not want to create an account.
Does anyone know if you can download a stand-alone version of Word for iPad or
iPhone?
TIA,
Donna
