I didn't keep the Active Braille long enough, didn't want to become
attached to it them lose it. It is a very impressive device and I liked
the ergonomic display.
Think you are right about FS. HIMS, from past experience, well, I
don't know how it stands now. I've had the Focus I think about a year
and a half. It can be paired to 5 devices.

One reason I'm squeamish about the ActiveBraille is because of my experience
with the Vario. It was a great display, but it was kind of lousy to buy it and
then watch Baum go under. HandyTech has been around for a while, and it looks
like they just got a new name, so maybe got bought by someone? Anyway, to spend
that much money and then have the company go under is not something I want to
have to deal with. If I had to put money on which company will be around for
the long haul, I think FS is the safer bet.

I have a Focus Blue 40 cell 5th generation. Since I had that Active Braille
in my hands, I find the Focus ok. Just ok. It works. It connects to the Mac and

Now I am at the point of just using it (and the Bluetooth keyboard). There
are some anomalies when using braille but don't believe its the fault of the
