appear to jaws as links.

Unpronounceable then the dots,

He is using the UNICODE Braille characters.

Above I should have spelled simon in Unicode Braille. If you read by character,
VOiceOver will read all the dots in each cell. Forgive me for forgetting the
initial dot-6. In NVDA and JAWS, these characters are currently ignored by
speech, but are displayed on a Braille display. VoiceOver should also be
showing the cells. This is quite useful on webpages, where you don't want
Braille to be be modified by the Screen Reader based on translations.

The Wikipedia article for this is at:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braille_Patterns
…
Braille was added to the Unicode<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode>
Standard in September, 1999 with the release of version 3.0.
When using punching, the filled (black) dots are to be punched.
The Unicode block for braille is U+2800 ... U+28FF:
…

Best wishes,

Jonathan,

I think he said it was braille text / dots within a web page but wished to be
able to mute vo and I would assume other screen reading products that were
being used if not vo on a Mac / apple device.

I wondered if there was a way to instruct the screen reader to mute from within
the page?or hide the braille text on the page from screen readers but not from
a braille device.
Question:
How would a braille device get on with the Unicode braille text being shown on
the page in an embedded gif / image
Which from last time I tried something like this at least jaws couldn’t see the
contents
I’m assuming here a braille device will be somewhat in the same boat.

I have never seen a way to do this. Though I have not tried changing verbosity,
as I find this useful to know I should go to my BRL display. Also, if you
navigate by character, you can read the individual cells stating exactly which
dots are raised. What is your application?
Thanks!

Hello all,
Hope all are doing well!

I have a question: on the mac and iOS also, is there a way to disable voiceover
announcing braille pattern dots for each braille Unicode character?
I'll give some context: we are developing some website in which we are showing
some data as braille Unicode characters, we want the user to be able to read
this data on the braille display, but we want voiceover speech to stay silent
when going over this data.
Hope my question is clear!

Thanks in advance!
Mohammad
