Have you used Finder at all on the Mac? On the left is the sidebar
where you can select folders and drives.

one sinks music as I’ve never had to do this as my Mac and iPhone
have always been perfectly sinked as far as music goes. I’ve never

After you connect the iPhone via USB jump to the next window, stop
interacting with the general area and find the toggle buttons, one
of which is Audio. Select that then find the sync options. You can
choose to sync all or selected books.
I don't use wi-fi for this as I prefer to have more control over
what is going on.

Yes that makes sense. The books app on the iPhone plays audio, but
Mac Mojave OSx had not been caught up to that capability. I’m
still using Mojave, since I’ve not yet finished my Federal Income
Tax preparations. Don’t want to booger up stuff until that’s
behind me.
