Years ago, I spent countless hours trying to maintain access to multiple devices (like SIP handsets) over IPv4 with NAT. It was a mess and required far too much of my time. Now that I have a /64 block of IPv6 natively from my Internet service provider, I can simply add the devices I want to be able to access from the outside to my DNS domain, and that's it. No muss, no fuss. Example: Do a host lookup on my Mac: host cantata.rednote.net The only other option for this kind of connectivity would be a block of IPv$ addresses which are getting ever rarer and more expensive.
