Really? Why does it need to think there is a monitor attached?
I’d use a tv with hdmi input From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> On Behalf Of Brad Snyder Sent: Thursday, 26 March 2020 2:26 AM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Mac Mini Now On Order The Mac mini requires that you have a monitor connected to it in order for it to work. If you either don’t have a monitor, or don’t want to use one, you can use a DVI to HDMI adapter to fool the Mac mini into thinking a monitor is connected. These adapters used to be included with a Mac mini, but are no longer. You must purchase the adapter separately. - Brad - On Mar 25, 2020, at 04:02, Anders Holmberg <and...@pipkrokodil.se<mailto:and...@pipkrokodil.se>> wrote: Hi! No need to worry. It will be detected as soon as you turn it on. But i’ll have a usb keyboard handy if it won’t work for some reason. You can just turn on VoiceOver with cmd f5 and follow the instructions. Good luck. /A 25 mars 2020 kl. 09:53 skrev 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com<mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com>>: Thanks to everyone who responded about the builtin 2018 model Mac Mini speaker. It seems likely it's sufficiently usable for initial installation and configuration. I like to keep things as simple as possible when I bring up a new device for the first time. There's always the rest of my life with that device for getting more nuanced and full featured. So, now that I've ordered my Mini and have an estimated delivery date, I'm wondering how I will interact with it. As a blind person, I'm assuming I can skip hooking up a monitor. That's a nuance for later, imo, for working with sighted colleagues in the home office. But, what about input? The only Mac keyboard I have is the one I ordered with my Mini, and it's bluetooth, unlikely to be delivered before the Mini itself. Can I use a standard PC 104-key USB keyboard? I have several of these, with no extra keys. They're just the basic PC configuration. Will the Mini work with that, at least through initial configuration? Can I set my passwords and my network connection that way and worry about my Apple bluetooth keyboard later? I'm also assuming the old guidance about blind people configuring their Apple machine still holds true? "Just wait, and Voice Over will turn itself on after a time." Is that still so? I've actually only gone through that process once--abut 6 years ago when I got my Airbook. Thanks again for all guidance. It's much appreciated.
