Hello Kawal,
You can set up the desired options for automatic announcements when you start
Nearby Explorer Online and you can then turn up the sound volume and put the
iPhone in your pocket. As you walk you will hear the desired announcements
without having to touch your iPhone until you have finished your walk and you
want to exit Nearby Explorer Online. For example I have my Nearby Explorer
Online set to automatically announce street names, heading bearing, and
approaching intersections. as I walk with the phone in my pocket I hear
announcements like “Kingsway heading North East” and “Lake Road 40 yards on
left” and “Hiltingbury Road 240 yards ahead”. There are a couple of cases when
you might want to take the iPhone out of your pocket. First if you do not want
to keep hearing your compass bearing you can hold your iPhone upright as if you
were going to take a portrait photograph of what is ahead. The iPhone will
vibrate and tell you your current heading. If you are in a park with open space
you can set a watch point at the park gate. Later on you can hold your iPhone
horizontally and rotate it until it vibrates and tells you how far away the
watch point is. Your iPhone is then pointing at the park gate which will help
you find the gate across an open space. In both these situations you do not
need to touch your iPhone screen and you do not even have to open your iPhone
case!
I hope this helps.
Best regards … Paul Hopewell
