OK, I opened a .docx document I created earlier today in TextEdit, using Microsoft Word on my Mac, and I am experiencing the same issue that Gabe described earlier.
When I open the document, I hear VoiceOver say “one visible line”, and I am also unable to navigate line by line, using either VoiceOver navigation or simple arrow key navigation. I have made sure that QuickNav is not enabled. I have tried interacting and un-interacting with the document area, and still am not able to navigate line by line.
