I wish I could be more helpful in this matter, but when I first installed the Microsoft Office Suite on my Mac Mini I was experiencing the issue as described in this thread. Several months ago I was trying to work with a document I had copied from my old Windows PC and tapped some sort of control that I simply don’t remember. The issue completely vanished.
As I say, I wish I could recall that control.
