I wrote to Apple about the problem with not being able to mute speech in mailboxes when viewing messages with two or more lines showing. This is one of the situations where using the control key just doesn’t work. They said they had been able to replicate the problem. In the meantime, I will create the commander because I don’t want to go back to not viewing any of the message, which was the work-around solution they proposed to me.
