Fwit, let me explain why I went with the M2 Max. As the Tom's Guide
review points out:

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/macbook-pro-14-16-m2-pro-max-2023

Both the Pro and the Max also have faster access to memory. Apple claims
"the updated architecture allows for 200 GB/s of bandwidth on M2 Pro and
up to 400 GB/s on M2 Max."

This one difference will matter, imo, when it's time to load lots of
instruments into memory quickly. I won't know whether I'm right for some
time, as I'm still learning my way around Logic Pro and Native
Instruments. I do believe this can matter especially in realtime
performance settings.

The above datum took me away from considering the somewhat smaller and
lighter M2 Air and locked me into the base model with the M2 Max. That
base model has 32Gb ram and 1Tb SSD. I bumped up the SSD to 2Tb for
$400, which brought my total price (without tax) to just under $3.5K
(USD).

My idea is that I'll know how much these kinds of metrics matter by the
time there's an M3 Max out there. Meanwhile, the machine is more capable
than I am driving Logic and associated apps.

Now, I just need to get my studio arranged better in order to be able to
use my associated gear better. Unfortunately, that's going to take some
time because I actually need to move physically, and I am likely move to
another state. <sigh>

Meanwhile, there's also Musescore 4 with all it's advertised
improvements for accessibility to check out, though I expect these specs
are overkill for just scoring.

Best,

Janina
