Try signing out of your Apple ID account, and see if that helps. Once signed out of your Apple ID, you may also want to reset the phone back to factory default. If you're able to do this, then I don't see a reason to do a DFU on the phone.

IN the past I unwisely turned on stolen device protection and now want to turn it off so that I can give away the phone. My problem is that my fingerprint is no longer recognised by the iPhone and it seems that I can only turn off stolen device protection by authorising with my fingerprint which alas is not recognised. I thought that security delay of 1 hour while the iPhone was at home would let me turn off stolen device protection with my passcode alone but it seems that this is not so. Does anyone know how to get round this problem? Many thanks … Paul Hopewell -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
