Thanks. I don't remember seeing that option in the context menu, but will try again. I also found an area in the ITunes window called "LCD display area" and interacted with it. My IPod was charged already when I found it, so it merely said "IPod is synced and ready to disconnect". I'll try and see if that's the area that shows battery status, too.
