Hello Donna,

I don't use the Preview pane, and in the Viewing section of Mail Preferences, I 
have Show header detail: set to "None". I just press Return to read a message, 
and only have to interact once if I want to activate a link. I don't have to 
read through the message so far to find the link since I can use VO-Command-l 
to get to it directly.

Oh, yes. And if you want to look at the message headers for any reason, press 
Command-Shift-h and there they are.
