Check with coconut battery, a small app that gives some information about your battery. You can download it here: http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/
Second, open system preference, account, and log in items, and make sure that only necessary apps are running. Thirdly, VO uses nearly 10 percent of CPU power and the speech engine uses about the same level. Even though the number fluctuates a bit, this is way higher usage than open two flash based websites. Apple often says that flash contents reduce battery life in half. So, see where the ballpark should be at. Finally, the hour reading from the task bar is only estimation. If you turn your machine, does not touch anything for about 2 minutes, check the number, and you will likely to see near 10 hours of calculation, whereas you open a couple of apps with keyboard commends and check it, and it will say 3 hours with 99 percent of battery life. Accurate usage can only be measured with real clock, from the minute you turn your machine on, to the minute that it does not say any longer without power supply. Hope this helps. I am using 13 inch macbook pro and it has 5700 mah battery and I am getting between 3:45 to 5:30 out of it and the battery has 15 full cycle counts. Hope this helps.
