Hello Austin,

Unfortunately, this is a well-known problem but it is totally unpredictable. 
For that reason, most of us save our VoiceOver Preferences somewhere so that we 
can reinstate them quickly when the problem strikes.

I think this is a very difficult bug to track down, as is the VoiceOver 
suddenly going silent one.
