It is true that the camera kit for the iPad cannot be used for transfer
of data other than photos. As for compactness, the ZaggMate from
zagg.com is an aluminum case which combines a BT keyboard while adding
only .25 inch to the thickness of the iPad itself, and there are other
cases for iPad that include a BT keyboard

extra, but my understanding was that you can't use external media evenfor file
transfer or extra storage, with the usb port provided by that accessory. If
