HI George:
A couple of things come to mind here.  You can bring up those files in windows 
explorer, particularly the ones that don't work, and copy them into a folder or 
even onto the desktop, then add them to iTunes library.  The other things is to 
rebuild the library from the iPod and then sync with the iPad.  I don't know if 
this will be helpful.  But, At least you won't have lost the files.
