I don't have the most up-to-date version of the application, but it
works fine for me. It's been a great product for breaking down story
ideas and outlining, etc.

I don't know what in your opinion means extensive experience but for me it
works well. The author recently added a lot of stuff and now for me it works
really fine with VoiceOver. The easiest way for you should be to try the demo
version of Scrivener. That's not available in the Mac App Store but in the web:
