Please don't confuse it with a normal text editor. Scrivener is much more complex. Pages or Textedit is fine to write simple textes like letters or maybe a Poem. But in Scrivener you are able to have a whole book project including research, your character sketch, scene sketch and so forth. And at the end you can export it in a novel format to send your work to publishing houses. Of course in a way you can do all this in Pages too. But in Scrivener it's much easier.
