I've only stumbled upon those elusive menu items in the status menu, like 
Dropbox, etc. Sometimes it works when trackpad commander is off, and sometimes 
when the mouse cursor is set to move the VO cursor. I haven't found a reliable 
way to do it, but I think others have. I just move my finger around on the 
trackpad once I do a VO-m, m to open the status menu.
