I'm having this same problem. I don't use web based email at all, so how would I go about telling gmail that I want to use pop instead of Imap? I'm trying to get a brand new clean lion install up and running, and so far, I honestly don't think it was worth the trouble. Over all, I still agree with the original subject line of this thread, but I'm forcing myself to update to lion because the pandora app I like to use, Pianopub, no longer runs under Snow Leopard. Thank God I still have my sl install on an external drive and can just boot from that is needed. I have a question pertaining to that, but I'll start a new thread for that. For now, however, any help with the configuring of gmail to be a pop account would be extremely appreciated. Missy
