Doug,

Good agenda. I have one thing to point out. Joe Sibley’s committee is
spelled wrong. It should be MoPix mo P I x. It’s written as one word. You
probably get that from Michelle’s pronunciation.

- Removing Music

Neil Barnfather - TalkNav <[email protected]> Jan 06 07:53PM

Hi All,

Quick question for those using iMatch, I've got it all setup on my computer,
fine, on my iPhone I see the music, but, what I don't know, or see a way of
doing, is how to remove music from the phone if I no-longer want it on the
handset...

there's no edit button at the top of the music menu so that you can then opt
to delete it etc.

so in short, once you enable iMatch on your iPhone, all locally stored music
is deleted and the previously synced music options in iTunes on your
computer switch off and indicate that you are now using iMatch.

On the phone you see iCloud download buttons next to each album, which I can
press, this triggers a download. But then, if later I decide I don't want
that choice only, how can I say, I'd like to remove this and that, so that I
can free up space to add more music...

thanks to all.

Find the song you want to delete and swipe (left to right or vice versa). A
delete button will appear. Continue until you have removed everything you
wish.

would that be a tap, hold and then swipe or literally just a swipe from left
to right?

do you know if you can remove entire albums / artists in that fashion?

thanks.

iPhone remember Bluetooth pairing

Michael Busboom <[email protected]> Jan 06 09:17PM +0100

Hello Listers,

I recently purchased a Bluetooth keyboard that was specifically designed for
the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. For the most part, the keyboard works well, the
caveat being "for the most part."

whenever I turn off the keyboard and iPhone 4, they lose their pairing, and
I need sighted assistance to reset the pairing. VoiceOver does not read the
numbers needed to be entered on the keyboard for pairing purposes. I have
not been able to find any setting in the iPhone 4 that would instruct the
unit to remember the pairing combination. Any and all suggestions would be
most gratefully appreciated.

My thanks to all, along with all the best for 2012,

Mike

Alex Hall <[email protected]> Jan 06 03:29PM -0500

This is not too helpful, but I find your problem very odd. From my
experience, vo will read the numbers you have to enter because they
appear in an alert, and pairing is never lost unless you remove it
manually. I saw a keyboard un-pair itself from my sister's iPad once,
but I think that was because she changed the keyboar's batteries. Does
this problem happen all the time, or do you maybe put the phone in
airplane mode a lot? That shouldn't matter, but it is all I can think
of. Of course, it could be the keyboard, but I doubt that as it is
designed for the iPhone, and the keyboard model should not be able to
affect vo's ability to announce the pairing code.

Hi Alex,

This happens every time I power off the iPhone and then switch it back on
and thus far, VO has never read the numbers required for pairing. I will,
however, go back into the iPhone VO settings and make sure that alerts are
automatically read.

Thanks for your input anyway.

There is no setting for that, alerts are always read when they appear.
By alert, I mean a popup window, not something that appears in the
status bar.
If you can, try another (different brand) keyboard and see if the same
thing happens.

come in, you can tab to the channel window and read with vo a. The list
window is accessible also, as are all configuration windows and fields.

Christina <[email protected]> Jan 06 10:33AM -0700

Greetings and happy 2012,

I cannot get time machine to backup. It starts the process then somewhere
down the way I get a alert stating that time machine cannot backup. It also
says that the problem may be temporary.

I am running the most updated version of snow leopard. I originally had time
machine backing up to a different external hard drive. However, in November
the external hard drive stopped working. So, I asked for a external hard
drive for Christmas and got one. My husband set it all up and my mac book
was backed up on December 25th. All day yesterday I tried to get time
machine to do the backup and it just would not do. The hard drive is a one
terabyte usb external hard drive. My hubby had to format the hard drive when
we first tried to use it on the 25th.

Thanks for any help as to what the problem may be. I have tried all of the
simple things I can think of like restarting my mac. :)

Christina

Did he format it with Mac Extended Journaling? I think TM requires the
extended journaling.

that would be right.

it's worth ensuring that with time machine, both the time machine firmware
and the time machine software including airport software are also up to
date.

Thanks, yes it's formatted with mac extended journaling. On the alert it
stated if that if the problem persists that I should run the repair disk.
That is what I am doing right now. We'll see what happens.

problem with mac arrow keys

Kirsten Edmondson <[email protected]> Jan 06 06:58PM

Hi,
Something funny has just started happening. When I try and use the arrow
keys inside the mail it says row expanded, or row collapsed, I can't seem to
get to the status or conversation boxes etc. I think I must have pressed
something but I have no idea what. How can I get it back to normal? I have
closed down and reopned and that's made no difference.
Thanks.
Kirsten.

"Mr. L. Alexander" <[email protected]> Jan 06 07:32PM

you may have turned on quick navigate. or "Quicknav" if so, press both left
and right keys simultaniously and you should hear "Quicknav off".

that's my thought.
