Hello, If you are using GMail with IMAP then you probably have those messages stored on GMail' servers. You can confirm this by going to GMail's Web interface and looking for the messages.
If you find them, you don't need to worry with copying messages to the Mac. Just configure your GMail account on the Mac and they'll be automatically available there.
