garage band is a more voiceover orientated package for general multitracking 
with digital instruments, samples, etc, amadeus is more of an audio editing / 
mastering tool.

if you're serious about recording, I'd advise on protools 10. it's much more 
voiceover orientated and offers tools  that aren't available in products like 
garageband or amadeus.
