Ahh, but there are so many frequencies and what you get is highly
dependent on where your receiver is. So it's not quite like somebody
just plugging in their FM radio to a streaming audio server for each
city. Well, I guess it could be done that way but shortwave is such a
small niche I don't think they could make that commercially viable. In
poking around it seemed like anything that would have a sufficient
audiance to be worth streaming the shortwave for already had live audio
streaming from the broadcaster (BBC, VOA etc). That said, if you google
around for streaming shortwave radio there are a number if individual
sites that have made web interfaces to the audio of their shortwave rig.

You're totally confused!
I'm not wanting to literally pick up the frequency.
I'm wanting an app that would let me stream short wave frequency
broadcasts.

Subject: Re: Shortwave?
You mean actually picking up and tuning in shortwave radio on your
phone? I suspect that isn't possible because the antennas in your phone
are designed for the wifi and GSM frequency ranges, not shortwave. Also,
other than some really high-end digital tuners, most shortwave gear is
set up to 'tune' a particular subset of the shortwave radio frequency
range with a physical variable capacitor while the wifi and mobile
voice/data radio stuff is set to fixed frequencies. If they can't bake
in an FM tuner, I doubt they could do the more niche shortwave. Maybe
there is a re-broadcaster that streams something but other than the
current time and a few other common frequencies part of the fun of
shortwave was to see what you could pick up on a bounce from around the
world. The internet kind of took away the novelty of that phenomenon.

hello guys.
this may seem like a really stupid question, but is there an app
either for the Mac, or for the iPhone, preferably for the iPhone,
that would allow me to listen to shortwave radio. I do have Wunder
radio, and bunches of other apps, however, I have yet to find a
particular app that will actually allow me to listen to shortwave
radio. most of the apps that I use will allow me to listen both to FM
as well as a.m. radio. That is however it. if anyone knows of
anything, I would be very interested.
thank you much.
